On 11 July 1981 12 youth were arrested in Bradford. They were later charged with possession of explosives and conspiracy. They were all members of the United Black Youth League. They had supported Anwar Ditta in her struggle to be united with her children and Jaswinder Kaur and many others in their fight against deportation. They had struggled against police harassment of black youth. These ‘sons of the community’ as Ruth Bundy, one of their solicitors was to describe them, were to motivate one of the most powerful social justice campaigns of the 1980s.
