‘The Palestinian issue was always close to our hearts. I first thought it was about Muslims, … and then I asked a teacher why Palestinians were prepared to kill themselves. She said they were terrorists. I pinched her and said that hurt you, doesn’t that mean they feel pain? Another teacher asked me to read the newspaper Free Palestine. I went to the library to read it and found out about George Habash. I realised he was a Christian. I learnt that the Palestinian issue was about settler colonialism.’
